The AC600VR feed barge is specifically designed to handle extreme weather and high waves and is designed for Iceland's rough coastlines. Its unique V-shaped bottom helps it cut through waves and stay stable, ensuring that operations run smoothly even in rough seas.

Focus on safety and efficiency
Safety is a top priority. The AC600VR is built with reinforced structures to protect against harsh weather and rough waters. The barge is designed to be operated remotely from shore, providing operational safety by keeping “up-time” on feeding system.

"Our V-shaped barge is perfect for these rough environments. It protects our equipment and keeps operations running smoothly, even when we can’t reach the site due to bad weather," said Bardur Arnaldsson, Regional Manager North for Kaldvik.

The company has already seen success with two similar barges delivered from AKVA group, which influenced their decision to purchase another.

Looking ahead
The AC600VR barge is set to be delivered in the second quarter of 2025. By choosing AKVA group, Kaldvik is investing in a reliable, field-tested solution that ensures both efficiency and safety in their operations.
For fish farming in challenging environments, the AC600VR represents a dependable solution for managing the difficulties posed by extreme weather.

"We are very pleased that Kaldvik has once again chosen us as their preferred supplier for their new feed barge, and we greatly appreciate that they see the value and benefits of our V-shaped barge. With this new delivery, we look forward to providing Kaldvik with an optimal tool for success in the East Fjords of Iceland," says Kent Ims Borsheim, Project Director for Feed Barges.
